I wandered slowly around Hoan Kiem lake and along the northern edge in Dinh Tien Hoang I met 73-year-old Mrs Bui Thi Thanh Nien. She had a small shop where she sold souvenirs and hats. She spoke in French and told me business had been hard since the Russians left after the Soviet Union collapsed, but it was now slowly improving.

Bà nói bằng tiếng Pháp và cho tôi biết việc kinh doanh đã khó khăn kể từ khi người Nga rời đi, nhưng bây giờ đang dần cải thiện.
