Hanoi was bathed in a golden glow and the air was filled with the sounds of everyday life. People called out “Liên Xô” and they were keen to meet me, and I loved meeting them. We drank tea and asked about each others’ lives. I immediately felt a deep connection to this city. It was truly heartwarming.
